Director of GBBN’s Mixed-Use Market, Chad Burke recently participated in a Technical Assistance Panel (TAP) in Minneapolis. Organized by Urban Land Institute (ULI) Minnesota, the event convened an interdisciplinary panel of experts—architects, planners, developers, brokers, and other real estate professionals—to advise the city of Minneapolis about the future of its historic Warehouse District.

Adjacent to multiple performing arts venues as well as the Twins and Timberwolves stadiums, the Warehouse District overflows with people at times, but it also suffers from high vacancy rates, crime, and low investment. The panel came together to understand the challenges the district faces and the opportunities that can be leveraged to support its development as a vibrant residential and entertainment district.

“It was great to be a part of such a talented panel with a shared interest in the long-term vibrancy of the Warehouse District, and downtown Minneapolis,” Chad says. “I came out of the panel more optimistic about its future than ever.”

The panel’s recommendations were documented in a recent report published by ULI Minnesota, which can be read here.
