Willkommen Home, Ribbon Cut on Mixed-Use, Mixed-Income Housing

对不起,此内容只适用于English

State and local leaders recently gathered at Ziegler Park to cut the ribbon on a large, new mixed-use, mixed-income development in Cincinnati’s Over The Rhine neighborhood. Scattered across 20 different buildings—including 16 historic renovations and 4 new builds—the project is bringing the largest infusion of affordable housing to the neighborhood in decades alongside commercial and retail space.

Speaking on behalf of the city administration, Interim City Manager, John Curp, described the project as a model for future development. “We want more projects like this in all our neighborhoods,” he said.

As part of a team that included Cincinnati Center City Development (3CDC) and Model Group, GBBN designed three of the four new buildings.

“Our infill buildings were built on lots that had been left vacant by a history of economic disinvestment,” says GBBN’s Director of Commercial & Workplace, Chad Burke. “While mending those holes in the historic fabric, they will reinforce the density and diversity that make Over The Rhine so vibrant.”

New buildings in historic districts present a unique opportunity to provide accessible, functional, and delightful living spaces for residents, while enhancing the historic character of the neighborhood. The additions to Republic Street, Vine Street, and Pleasant Street, allow us to appreciate a beautiful historic material (brick) in new ways – creating folds, waves, and other details that you don’t see in the historic buildings.
