In the News: Ronald McDonald House Makes More Room for Love
The new expansion at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati (RMH) officially opened last week with a livestreamed ribbon cutting ceremony and virtual tour. The expansion increases the number of rooms to 177, making it the largest Ronald McDonald House in the world. More than a place to sleep, the house offers the comforts of home to families whose children are undergoing treatment at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
“It’s been amazing to see people come through the building for the first time and hear them react to it,” says Jennifer Loeb, executive director of RMH. “We hear a lot of comments about the big open windows and all the natural light that comes in and that’s really important for our families who are so emotionally and physically exhausted from supporting their kids in the hospital.”
Indoor and outdoor play space, a game room, a rooftop terrace with views of the neighborhood, a commercial kitchen for RMH’s Taste of Hope meal program, and a family kitchen—where RMH families can prepare their own meals whenever they want—are all part of a project that takes unique advantage of its urban site.
Read more about the project in the Cincinnati Business Courier, wvxu.org, and Fox19.
