An EPIC Night for GBBN at AIA PA Design Awards

At their annual design awards event this month the American Institute of Architects Pennsylvania (AIA PA) recognized GBBN for our work and our people.

Our 2-star Fitwel Certified Digital Futures Office Building received a Merit Award for design. The jury applauded the building’s façade, which uses a simple, black metal panel system to generate impressive visual complexity. Unlit, the black panels shift to white, silver, and gold as they’re transformed by the light of the sun, ensuring pedestrians never have the same view twice.

We were recognized as an EPiC firm. Facilitated by the AIA PA’s Emerging Professionals Committee (EPiC). This honor celebrates firms for their commitment to the professional development of emerging professionals and young architects through an assessment of firm culture and support in four critical areas: licensure; leadership and professional development; career advancement opportunity; and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. EPiC recognition is assessed annually, and we are honored to be among the firms recognized this year.

Positively impacting people is the most important thing we do. This includes our design professionals and all employees. From in-house licensure study groups and support to our robust Learning & Development program, investing in our people benefits our firm and our projects, but also the industry. We advocate for gender equity with our industry-leading Family Leave Policy and host educational equity-focused conversations like our Environmental Justice Symposium and Health Equity Symposium. We also support our employees’ continuing community volunteer efforts through programs like ACE Mentorship of Louisville, Design LAB Cincinnati, and Carnegie Mellon University’s UDream program.

And finally, GBBN Associate Greg Coni was recognized with the Young Architect’s Award! Read more about his recognition here.
