Mercy Health Breaks Ground on new Kings Mills Hospital
Members of GBBN’s healthcare team recently joined Mason city officials alongside staff and administrators from Mercy Health to break ground on the health system’s latest regional hospital, Mercy Health-Kings Mills Hospital in Mason, Ohio.
Initially announced in January 2021, the new regional hospital is designed to serve “unmet inpatient needs in Warren County…, (promoting) accessible, community health and well-being,” according to Mercy Health-Cincinnati President, David Fikse.
With an emphasis on cardiology and orthopedics, the new facility will also include a complete emergency department, imaging services (X-ray, CT, and MRI), four operating rooms, a catheterization lab with interventional radiology services, and an adjacent medical office building. The site is flexible enough to allow both buildings to expand and add services based on community need.
“While responding to unique site conditions and departmental needs,” says GBBN’s Mickey LeRoy, “the design of the Kings Mills Hospital also aims to express the character of Mercy Health’s mission and ministry while continuing to develop and utilize systemwide care-delivery and construction standards.”
“The groundbreaking is an exciting time for the entire project team to celebrate another milestone in the realization of these goals,” Mickey added.
A long term client, GBBN has designed many projects for Mercy Health (and the larger, Bon Secours Mercy Health system), including locations in Simpsonville, South Carolina, Chester, Virginia, and the Mercy Health Deerfield Medical Center in Ohio.
